Question by Erika: What can I do to practice my popping skills for hip hop?
I love hip-hop, and I feel that my dancing would look SO MUCH cooler if I added popping to my routines. Since I’m a beginner, I really want to learn how to pop. I tried it a few times, but I feel that I don’t have enough muscle strength to HIT.

So, what can I do to make my hits stand out more? what exercises? what can I do to strengthen my muscles?

Yoga is probably a really good place for you to start. This will really help you get a grasp of how to control your entire body whilst building your core.

In addition to this, we’d simply recommend you asking friends (or whoever you dance with) and get tips from them. If you dance alone right now, find someone who you really find you learn from easily online (YouTube users etc) and maybe drop them a private message for some tips. You’d be surprised at how receptive and supportive people can be.
