Well, one sounds like a female reproductive organ, and one I guess is yoga but with more intensity.

One Response to “power yoga or vinyasa?”

  1. Vinyasa yoga is a set of hatha yoga poses (asanas) performed repetively in sequence, usually moving from one pose to the next in synchronization with the breath (moving into one pose on the inhalation, moving to the next pose on the exhalation). The number of repetitions is up to the individual.

The well known Surya Namaskar (aka “Sun Salutations”) is just one vinyasa yoga series.

About.com defines “Power Yoga” as “a general term used in the West to describe a vigorous, fitness-based approach to Vinyasa-style yoga”. They continue by noting the term grew from an effort to create a more accessible style of vinyasa yoga from the very structured Ashtanga Yoga style created by Sri K. Patthabhi Jois.

Note that there is potential confusion between Jois’ Ashtanga Yoga as a style of vinyasa yoga, versus discussing the Eight Limbs of Ashtanga (sometimes “Raja”) Yoga.
