How can I motivate myself to do yoga in the mornings?

Question by Yay: How can I motivate myself to do yoga in the mornings?
I am not a morning person. At all. But I love doing yoga, and it really wakes me up and puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day. The problem is, I don’t care about that at 6:00 in the morning when I would have to get up in time to do it. How can I motivate myself better to get out of bed and do my yoga?

Put your alarm on the other side of the room or under your bed. That way you actually have to get up out of bed to turn it off. LoL
I love doing yoga in the mornings, it wakes me up too 😀

  1. put a picture of the good things that will happen to you if you do this right on your night table.

    e.g… hang those jeans that you can’t fit inito right across from your bed.

  2. Hi, I am a certified Hatha Yoga instructor. I think the first two suggestions are a bit harsh and generic. I get up at 5 am and do yoga for 2 hours most mornings. I suggest developing a morning routine you enjoy. I keep a list by my bed of the positive things yoga does for me including how wonderful I feel when I complete my practice. I immediately put on Kirtan music by Krishna Das and begin to sing. I also listen to it during my practice. I go to brush my teeth and smile at myself in the mirror and thank myself for getting up. I make myself a cup of organic green tea and put it in my special mug. when I have my moon I don’t get up to do yoga. My favorite yoga website is http://www.YogaHathaYoga.com. They have many articles on the health benefits of yoga and yoga sequences you can use to keep yourself motivated. Once you start to yoga regularly the benefits you experience will motivate you naturally. Namaste.

  3. This is when it comes down to you. Like you said at 6 in the morning its only you and the internal fight to get up and go or stay in bed rests on your shoulders. A motivation tip that’s really great relates to how the human brain works. It takes 7 days for your brain to form a routine and after 21 days its starts to become a habit. The motivation is to keep telling yourself that the fight to get up and get going is temporary after the first week its gets easier and after 21 days you’ll be well on your way to forming a habit and getting up wont be a problem.

    Currently your brain has no set goal as to when getting up will stop feeling so hard so it seems like a huge task. When you apply a time frame with a set goal your mind will subconsciously conform to what your telling it.
