I’m starting to do Bikram yoga (hot yoga). I have a regular sticky mat and a manduka towel, but I’d like to get a yoga mat more suited to Bikram. What brand/mat do you recommend?
The Manduka is always a good choice but it is much more costly compared to other mats.

I have been going to Bikram yoga since 2 months for now, and I am pregnant now. I am wondering should I still continue to go or not. I am not sure. I know there will be prenatal yoga after the first trimester but i want to know if bikram yoga is good during the first 3 months. As of now I like it very much and keeps me refreshed and healthy. If I feel uncomfortable going furhter I may stop Any one have any input on this.
As long as you have a normal, non-high-risk pregnancy, you can practice Bikram Yoga throughout your pregnancy. There are special modifications to some of the postures, and some you leave out. Your instructor should be able to guide you through this.
Just pay attention to your heart rate and body temp; so they don’t go too high. If you feel like you are too hot–step out for a moment or just be sure to sit near the door and talk to the instructor about opening it for you periodically.
The big thing is to not start something like this if it’s new; but if you’ve been practicing regularly, it’s no problem to continue; it’s actually very good. There is also a pregnancy video/DVD available–ask your teacher or see bikramyoga.com.

I have started thinking about taking a bikram yoga class. I have both a regular yoga studio and a bikram studio near me. I have not done either but would like to be in shape. Which do you think I should take? Also do you have any good positive stories?
well i do hatha yoga 2-3x/week and you obviously burn calories but not alot, it makes me relaxed, it’s challenging yet easy at the same time
bikram yoga is intense…well my friend lost weight in like 2-3 weeks of doing it because you sweat soo much and burn soo many calories…but her instructor didn’t let her leave even though she was basically going to pass out, for getting into shape i would say bikram yoga because its way more intense..if you can handle the heat because its over 100F in the room with alot of people…..my friend just lost 5ish pounds but you might lose more, it just depends on how often you go
