I only practice at certified Bikram studios with Bikram certified teachers…it makes a difference.   2. Actually any hot yoga it’s a western invention. If you do authentic yoga that was taught by masters from India you would sweat naturally. Body itself produces heat if yoga is done correctly . .Simply saying you should not sweat if you don’t move.Once you into hatha or ashtanga vinyasa flow , this is where sweat should appear.Also drinking while doing yoga is not good for your kidneys by the way.
    let alone some asanas nearly impossible to do if your body completely wet and slickly.

  3. Let’s not forget that Bikram Yoga is very jarring, especially compared to other forms of yoga.

I mean – if there is a humidex warning during summer to get inside, keep cool because of health reasons then why are we doing physical work in extreme heat? If u have to do any hot yoga, then Bikram is the lesser of the Hot yoga evils. But PLZ do not do Ashtanga or Flow or anything like that in Heated rooms. Ur not being taught well when a teacher doesn’t know that u r essentially doing heated postures in a heated room. Redundant and very foolish.

    Cynical, ill informed expert “advice” from someone who allegedly has taken one class! Found it tough did you? Couldn’t face yourself in the mirror for that “one hour” (btw Bikram classes are all 90 minutes).
    You are exactly the type of person that needs this yoga but you quit as you can’t face your own truth. Self realisation – look it up.

  14. well i agree that some people try bikram yoga and do get hurt. but the only reason that happens is the try to push them selves to hard to fast. the same would happen with any other form of fitness. your only argument is really about the air conditioning and smelling other peoples farts. well sorry buddy but if you cant take air conditioning then never get in a car, bus, train or plane again. there is more i would like to say but cant. there is a reason its the fastest growing yoga in the world.

  15. Exactly. I’m happy you pointed that out. So many people think it is just girly or not much of a work out. In reality it is. Yoga not only helps with flexibility but also your mind. My cousin (a male) was skeptical about it but I’m glad he decided to try it. After he tried it he loved it, he sees now that it really works out your muscles. He was sweating A LOT after his first class lol

    And also, about the hotness.. Have you heard of Sauna? Well, in sauna there can be up to 100 c degrees and that is DAMN GOOD FOR YOU. So the 37 c degrees is not exactly that bad for you…

    You must be pretty weak if you tell us that bikram is too harsh and stressful.. C’moon, I have been doing it for a while for about 5 times in a week and never have I felt better. I finally found a hobby that I literally enjoy doing.
    And well, if you do bikram in a proper place, you dont have to breathe other peoples farts and perfume…

  21. I PARTIALLY agree with you. I love yoga myself, but I believe that hot is a bit contradictory to yogic philosophy. However, I would be more apt to try it in a green house, with nice fresh air and sunlight.

  22. Why make this video?
    You haven’t even done Bikram yoga. You obviously did half the class (the standing series) and got embarassed that you gassed out halfway through the class, picked up your mat and sweaty towel and got the heck outta there while all the warriors who don’t brag about how good a cyclist/personal nutritionist they are. I’ve seen 120kg women do the 90 minute class and not complain. Instead, they have a chat with people shortly after class about how awesome it is.

  23. ps im not affiliated with vikasa yoga – i just had a really wonderful time there eating raw food and doing yoga. Also, my final point is just that yoga (no matter the place/space) is going to benefit an individual. Yes, ideally it can be done outside – but if for some reason the only viable option is to do it in a studio – so be it. Better some yoga than none. Namaste 🙂

  24. I’ve done one week of twice-daily yoga in Thailand – couldn’t recommend enough what Konstantin Miachin is doing at Vikasa Yoga. He has set up an open-air yoga studio in Koh Samui where you are surrounded by the beautiful scenery and ocean views. I always undervalued the benefits of yoga – but after that week I haven’t looked back and have continued my practise. Yoga makes you strong physically and mentally and you can apply many of the principals in your day-to-day life.

  35. I always put my hair up in a messy bun. I’ve never blow dried it at the studio, wanna get going. It is annoying to have yoga hair

    Do you wash your hair after hot yoga? if yes do you blow dry it at the studio? that is the most challenging things for me cos I dont know what to do with my hair after hot yoga…

    It was amazing! However, I constantly get headaches afterwards that I don’t know how to avoid (even with hydrating all day). Does this happen to you?
