I was looking for a good stretching routine and I found it! Madeleine Lewis said stretching. It is very clear in his instructions and is good for beginners and intermediate students. The scenery is absolutely adorable and practices. You can choose between three different routines. One, the AM is a routine pretty sweet. I use it often enough in the morning to get me going. You a warm welcome and then enter short stretch. There are about 25 stretch and practice lasts about 25 minutes. The second is a stretching routine that PM again with a warm up, then about 15 sections, and a relaxation / cool, about 25 minutes. The third sub-program (extra) is a section of power and very uplifting, takes about 20 minutes. They are all very good and useful for every moment of the day.

I’m in my late fifty, overweight, out of shape and arthritis in the knees. When I previewed this DVD, I was sure I would not be able to stretch. however, with some modifications for my lack of flexibility I was able to do all sections
      Advantages:.
      Beautiful scenery and peaceful
      Very professional produced
It gives instructions voiceover as she does stretching silence – very easy to follow instructions and movements
      calm, soothing voice

      Recalls breathe properly
Reminders for body alignment and good No form
      movements impossible for
      inflexible sequencing Good stretching

      Just makes you feel good
Disadvantages: His voice-over tells you to use a leg or arm while she uses the opposite leg or arm on the video. Not really a big problem, however.

5.0 out of 5 stars another fantastic DVD from Shiva Rea! , November 18, 2009

This review is from: Shiva Rea: Daily Energy – Vinyasa Flow Yoga (DVD)

I am so excited that Shiva Rea has a new DVD! I have all her DVDs and practice them on a regular basis.
This DVD contains seven 20-minute practice, 2 meditation, basic objects, and shavasana. I would say it is for beginners and experienced beyond
Here are the titles of chapters. Meditation
      solar (active movement meditation) Lunar
      Meditation (sitting meditation and breathing)
      20-minute practice
Earth (standing postures in a vinyasa format)
heart + Air (backbending within a vinyasa format)
      water (fluid vinyasa)
Fire + Water (standing poses, arms, balances and vinyasa)
fire (similar Namaskar to Agni, contains push-ups and active vinyasa) Chakra Vinyasa
(vinyasa to stimulate earth, water, fire and air)
Shanti (which is a sequence unbelievable! She calls it flow relaxation. yoga poses is approached in a gentle way that you do not realize you’re doing yoga! much we do on a day when you feel woozy, or want to start slow or at the end deliciously.)
      Core 7 minutes / 6 minutes Abs
      leans forward / object

      Relax 6 minutes
The beauty is that you can do any one section, or combine to your liking with the “yoga matrix”. Shiva also offers many predefined practices, combining several different sequences together to affect. Such practices are new and are not repeated on One of his previous DVDs. The only exception might be the section of fire, but even that has several differences to be distinctive of its previous versions.
This is the latest offering from Shiva, and reflects very his style of effective teaching in a class live. I had the pleasure of spending a week with her in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, and we did practice very similar to them. It is a DVD fantastic and a great way to get Shiva right in your own home!

This review is from: Shiva Rea: Daily Energy – Vinyasa Flow Yoga (DVD)

I usually do not bother critics, but leaving this DVD really warranted. I’ve never been a fan of Shiva Rea DVD, because any new more like a movie for me rather than a pedagogical practice. This DVD includes 7 main workouts when done on their own give you a great workout. It also pairs them seven good practices between 40 and 60 minutes. It’s really the whole package. Personally, I can not do an hour of yoga every day or every two days. I’m usually pressed for time and after awhile my body starts to decompose. As it says on the packet that it is better to do a little yoga daily routine full time to time. Lt does little time workouts fool you, they are really effective. I do a different one every day, every day and my body is reallly tone up, muscle, and it really gives me peace and grounding that yoga is known to induce. I statign to face the day with a serene look like Shiva dones in this workout, and all his DVDs.

This review is from: Shiva Rea: Daily Energy – Vinyasa Flow Yoga (DVD)

There are many things to say about this DVD, if you already know all the basics (and more) of vinyasa yoga. But to be clear, this is a DVD-intermediate to advanced
Pros (Why you should buy this DVD).
      1. There are many creative variations on classic poses.
      2. sequences magnificent interpretations of elemental energy.
      3. Flexible People with good body awareness will get a good workout, no matter what sequence of their choice.
      4. There are some great sequences backbend, which is rare.
5 .. Few viewers will be able to do everything in this DVD at a time, so that the learning process is interesting, even long-term
Cons (Why this DVD may not be for you):
      1. transitions pose to pose awkward and often poorly planned, which makes true “flow” (synchronized breathing with a set of pose) very difficult.
      2. His instructions can be confusing because they often do not describe their own movements in the video, especially in regard to how and when to breathe.
3 . risk of injury is even greater than usual because it does not provide for changes (often advanced) poses that might be safer for students less experienced or flexible.
4 . Certain poses are not marked at all, so you might find yourself tending to look up at the screen when you really need to focus on doing the poses
      sum (my total reviews ).
I like this DVD, and I’d love (really – the poses are really nice), but the cuing awkward, it is difficult to use.
